Washington, D.C. – February 19, 2025 – In a recent interview with Fox News, the former US President offered high praise for Tesla CEO Elon Musk, lauding him as “the smartest person” and acknowledging his significant contributions to technology.1 The former President specifically highlighted Musk’s work on Starlink, revealing his direct involvement in facilitating its deployment to disaster-stricken areas.2
“He did Starlink,” the former President stated, “He did things that were so advanced that nobody knew what the hell they were.”3 He recounted an instance where he contacted Musk directly to provide Starlink access to North Carolina residents affected by a disaster.4 “He got like thousands of units of this communication and it saved a lot of lives,” the former President explained.
The former President also acknowledged Musk’s business acumen, stating, “I wanted somebody really smart to work with me…5 He’s a leader. Yeah. He gets it done. I wanted to find somebody smarter than him. I searched all over. I just couldn’t do it.”
During the same interview, Musk confirmed that he would expedite the return of two American astronauts currently stationed at the International Space Station. “At the President’s request or instruction, we are accelerating the return of the astronauts,” Musk stated.6 The astronauts, originally scheduled for an eight-day mission, have been in space for nearly 300 days. The former President affirmed, “And you have the go-ahead. We’re bringing them.”
Tesla Expands into India as Trade Relations Thaw7
New Delhi, India – [Date of Publication] – Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturer headed by Elon Musk, has begun a recruitment drive in India, signaling a potential expansion of its operations in the country.8 Job postings for positions in New Delhi and Mumbai, including store managers and service technicians, have appeared on the company’s website and LinkedIn.9
This move follows a recent meeting between Musk and the Indian Prime Minister in Washington, D.C. Musk has expressed interest in business opportunities in India, including the launch of his Starlink satellite internet service. While Starlink’s potential entry into the Indian market has been met with both enthusiasm and regulatory scrutiny, recent comments from Indian officials suggest that the service may be approved if it meets security requirements.10
India’s electric vehicle market, while still relatively small, presents a significant growth opportunity for Tesla, especially as the company faces increasing competition in other markets.11 Recent changes to India’s import tax policies for electric vehicles, which offer concessions to manufacturers who invest and begin local production, could pave the way for Tesla to establish a manufacturing presence in the country.
This development occurs as trade relations between the US and India appear to be thawing. Recent agreements on trade concessions, including tariff reductions on certain goods, signal a potential warming of relations.
